FULL OF TRICKS.. NOT TREATS

Robbie and I spent part of the day cleaning our house, our cars, and doing laundry. As every woman knows, you let your bras air dry. Well, Robbie took it upon himself to hang my bras from coat hangers and then hang that on the frame of our office door, which is just to the left when you walk in the front door. Accompanying that were my bathing suits and various other shirts. I thought nothing of it. Later on that night, the little kids began to show up in their cute costumes, looking for candy. Some parents let their kids come to the door alone while they waited in the street and others joined their kids at the door. Typically, it was the fathers who joined them. Well after a few doorbell rings and conversations with kids and their dads, I realized my bras were hanging up for every trick or treater to see! I was so embarrassed! Robbie and I shared a good long laugh.. until he told me he had planned this all along. Wait til that monster realizes what this witch has in store for him..

A MUCH NEEDED BREAK

It's the last you'll see of this for a while! On Wednesday, I took my last practical exam , which completed my 4th semester of school. This means that I am officially half way through grad school! It's all down hill from here.. On Monday, I begin my first internship at a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). I'm a little skeptical as this wasn't my first choice of environment to work in. I am anticipating meeting some funny old people.. in addition to some really grumpy ones. Maybe I'll be the new face that brings a smile to their face. My goal is to make every patient I work with feel valued, respected, and loved. Stay tuned.. I'm sure I will have some entertaining stories to follow..

A SWEET SURPRISE

With the combination of school, sicknesses, weddings, and other various weekend plans, Robbie and I have not had a lot of one on one time. It's evident when life gets busy and we're "disconnected", so to speak. It typically results in us watching TV together, with him on one couch and me on the other, usually with my laptop in front of me completing online work or blog browsing. Last night was going to be no exception to our busy life, until.. some plans had changed.

Although changes in plans can be frustrating, it was obvious that God's plans were far better than those that we had made. While completing a final exam online, Robbie headed to the store and picked up some dinner. Later that night, he decided to "ground me". He sent me to our bedroom and told me to stay there until he came to get me. So I got to work, doing some last minute cleaning before the arrival of my mother-in-law. About 15 minutes later, Robbie came into the room and led me out into the living room, to which I was greeted with lit candles, wine, and fruit with chocolate fondue.




Unfortunately, it's too uncommon that we don't do things like this. We turned off the TV for the rest of the night, hung out in the candlelight, spoke about random things, and reminisced on how we met and our "dating days."

CHEAP CREATION

I've been on a bit of a jewelry kick lately. As a result, I am experiencing a lack of storage space. My necklaces are currently hanging on a rack-like thing in our bathroom and my earrings.. well, they have been scattered everywhere. I have been pondering about what I could build - or better yet, what I could ask Robbie to build. I thought I had it all designed in my head 'til tonight. In the process of cleaning my house and getting rid of junk, I ran into an old collage board covered in fabric. So I pulled it out into my living room, then went into our office, and I came out with my container of paper clips. From there, I created this:







I am not claiming that this is the prettiest jewelry display, but it is the cheapest. No worries, it's not out in the open, but rather hidden on a wall in our closet. Attractive? Maybe, only because of the color from the paper clips and earrings. Practical? You betcha! A husband pleaser? Only cuz it didn't cost me anything. A wife pleaser? Yep, now I know where all my earrings are!

Celebrating my 25th or "52nd" birthday..




Jayna tried for months to convince me to go, but I never thought it would be something I'd like. To my surprise, it is now the one place that I can't wait to go to! As a result, I have now recruited friends from grad school.





Country music, line dancing, burning calories, bull riding, girls night out.. you can't go wrong! They'll also play songs from the 80's or some recent "booty shakin" music, so if you feel like cuttin loose, you can do that too. I'll admit.. it's a nice break from all the line dancing so you don't look stupid when you can't pick up on the right steps. :)
